It is amazing how after you have a child you do feel like your "man's best friends" really do take a back seat to everything. Don is out of town fishing this evening and Juliette is asleep. I got to hang out with the dogs and took some cute pictures. They still are very special to me and wonderful companions when there is some quiet and I can enjoy their company. They love us all including Juliette. They have accepted their status but they know that we still love them even though we do not have as much time to play. We've had six years of enjoyment with them and hopefully many more.

capturing each moment...
I am in the market for a new camera. Well okay, I am in the market for a camera for Don's birthday. I am not sure if this is what Don truly wants or if his wife would like one more. A guy that I work with was kind enough to let me take his Nikon home for the evening to try it out. Wow, I cannot believe the difference when a camera has a lens to it. I was able to shoot today what I thought were beautiful pictures. I thought that I would share them with you.
Juliette is SO busy lately. She runs circles around the yard. Don and I just let her run because we find it is the best way to shear wear her out! She is so entertaining to be around. She finds anything and everything so funny. We just love her hardy giggle and laugh.
Summer is here. We have been in the pool once. Unfortunately, Juliette is quiet afraid of the water. She is scheduled for swim lessons but not until the latter part of the summer. I am taking her to the beach to play in the sand and in the small pools of water around the sand. She calls the beach "big back" (which means a big bathtub). We will get there I know. One thing that we do not have to worry about is that she will simply want to get into the pool off the porch by herself. This fear of water is apparently quite common for her age.
There is nothing like summertime! Happy summer to all.

Our first ice cream truck visit
After a very warm day outside in Summerville, we pulled into my parents' house and who was right on the street but the ice cream man. Juliette picked out my favorite as a kid, the cherry screwball. She sat on the back of the car and and cheerfully said "yummy..." the whole time eating it. The ice cream man even gave her an ice cream hat to wear.
Sculpture in the Park and a visit with the Collins
What a great day to go downtown Summerville and see some of the most amazing sculptures. Our old neighbors of 20 years or so the Collins come back in town each year for this event. Mr. Collins is the most amazing sculpturist. Juliette loved running around in the park as well.
Of course Juliette was convinced that just because her rabbits like to eat grass, the dog must like grass as well.

What makes Mother's Day so special
What a special day and weekend this was! I had an amazing weekend with Don and Juliette. Yesterday, My two best friends Amy and Jill had a girl's day at the beach without children. All of the husbands babysat. Last night all three couples went out. That was just great! This morning we went to church and heard a wonderful message about the love and role of mothers. It made me realize the importance of my job as a mother. Juliette today also had her first boat ride, and she LOVED it! Can you think of any better ways to spend your weekend? I cannot right now.
And to my special Mom who is out west right now on vacation - thanks for being who you are! You are the best Mom I could have asked for.
